I love owls, they are cute but mystical creatures. Since it’s almost time for Holidays season, I decided to make a little Christmas owl. It’s really cute, I took some photos to show it off to the world.
Its size is about 5 inch tall, crocheted with a 2.75mm hook. I like to use small hooks for my plushes to get a very tight stitch. The fiberfill won’t show through the holes using a smaller hook.
I used felt to make the contour of the eyes, the feet, and the beak. I used a glue gun to attach these pieces, I like it better than fabric glue even if it can get very messy.
Here is a side view of Mr Owl, I think he is very proud! His little wings are sewed to the side, but I glued the hat on the head, I didn’t want any white thread to show on the head, it looks cleaner this way.
Another view from the back. His hat is folded in two and glued to the bottom. I added a pom-pom because there is no Christmas hat without a pom-pom!
Voila! My little Christmas owl is really excited about celebrating the Christmas season, he is a great addition to Holidays decor, don’t you think?
Before I begin, I haven’t tried this pattern yet, even though I am going to! I just couldn’t wait to talk about it, I had to share because we are all starting to roll up our sleeves for the holidays season, looking for craft ideas to decorate the house, or gifts to put under the tree.
These two adorable and funny reindeers are the work of Ekaterina Sharapova, from Little Owl’s Hut on ETSY. I decided to purchase this pattern for two reasons. First, it is cute, and second, this is a new challenge for me. The reindeers are worked with wireframe, which is a technique that I wanted to learn for a long time, but never got around it. The arms and legs have fingers, which also involves a technique I want to add to my skills.
Another good reason to try this pattern, it’s almost time for the holidays! This is a very exciting project, and I cannot wait to post the result (if it turns out well).
